Los Esclavos

Both the river and the ancient bridge are named "Los Esclavos" (The Slaves). It was a deep and majestic river but now the hydroelectric limits its flow and the waters are most of the time peaceful and quite low (thats how it works). At times the operators open the gates so the water flows again line in old times.

The volcanic stones of the region and the water flow formed clean rock walls where the rock climbers have put theirs skills to the test. There are routes rating from 5.10 to 5.12, even as they are short routes, the difficulty level makes them fun.

los esclavos bridge

A bridge with a legend

The story and legend tells about the bridge needed to be built in record time, in fact impossible time. The director of the project had a lot of pressure getting closer and closer to the deadline so he made a deal with the devil. He was asked to give up his soul and the bridge would be finished the morning after. The next day he was faced by the devil asking for his part of the deal, the guy refused so the devil attacked with a kick but failing and kicking one side of a column. People say this part of the bridge has been fixed several times but it always falls down.
