Lemoa Lagoon
Between Chichicastenango and Santa Cruz del Quiche, a colorful Lagoon decorates the landscape with the reflection of the blue sky under the horizon.It is a recommended stop on your way to the north of Quiche.
It has a replica of the mayan football game with all the traditional details.
You can eat over there (you have to take your own meal as there are no options at the place) except from especial dates and celebrations.
How to get to Lemoa Lagoon at Quiche
Reach “Los Encuentros” driving from Guatemala City. Take the turn to Chichicastenango and from there, the Kucumatz arch takes you to Santa Cruz del Quiche. Chichicastenango is mostly known as *Chichi*. The beautiful market surprises everyone with the many many handcrafts, fabrics and masks. The two churches at the center of the city hold a rich cultural history.
Home of the Maya-Quiche, Santa Cruz is the center of this department (Quiche). It's at only minutes from the famous Chichicastenango. It is a modern city with banks, hotels, restaurants and different accommodations. It holds the ruins of Gumarkaaj, a maya archaeological site.
Utatlan is a maya site with some remainings of a maya capital important city. It's about 15 minutes from the center of Quiche and it holds a small but beautiful museum. The place is still scenario of religious rituals today.
